Using an Apple Mac®, learn how to collect and manage references in EndNote and insert citations and reference lists into Word. Only available to honours, postgraduates and staff.

Learning Objective(s)

On completion of this workshop participants should be able to use EndNote to:

  • Create new and open existing libraries
  • Choose a referencing style
  • Add references manually
  • Import references using using LibrarySearch, online databases and Google scholar
  • Select, sort, add, edit and delete references
  • Copy references to other libraries
  • Identify and delete duplicate references
  • Import, search and annotate PDF files
  • Categorise references using Group Sets and Groups
  • Add in-text citations to a Word document
  • Edit in-text citations according to referencing style requirements
  • Generate a reference list or manually create a bibliography
  • Convert EndNote field codes to plain text


Ability to:

  • Identify storage devices
  • Create and use filing structures
  • Locate and retrieve files
  • Open, close and switch between applications
