Establishment of Academic Health Centres is dependent on the integration of Hospital and University interests. Using the Alfred Health/Monash University partnership as the paradigm, Professor Jane will discuss the evolution of this relationship, and how it has culminated in substantial growth in research, commercial and philanthropic funding, physician-scientist training, clinical trial activity and academic leadership within the hospital corridors.

Laurie Grealish RN PhD will present on how qualitative research methods offer an opportunity to improve our understanding of the human experience of healthcare. In this presentation, how researchers can use qualitative methods to produce rigorous data that can be used to guide psychosocial care practices will be described. Specific qualitative methods will be reviewed and common misconceptions about qualitative research will be identified.

2022 MHIQ Seminar Series - Unravelling the Relationship between Sleep, Pain and TBI
Professor Richelle Mychasiuk's presentation discusses the fundamental relationships between neuroplasticity, sleep, and pain. Her team has been studying mTBI-induced desynchronization of the brain's clock at the behavioural, molecular, and pathophysiological level in adolescent rats. In addition, they have explored the role of orexin and the orexinergic system in modulation of these outcomes. In this seminar, Professor Mychasiuk tells you what they have learned.

2022 MHIQ/HPS Research Development Seminar Series - Using an Impact CV in Research
In this presentation Professor Kathy Andrews will discuss the development of an Impact CV that, unlike a traditional CV is largely focused on metrics, provides a template for researchers to gather evidence that can be used to plan for impact and build impact stories targeted to different audiences, including funders, promotion and award committees, donors and members of the community. An overview of the Impact CV will be presented using practical examples.
