Naomi McCarthy OAM represented Australia at two Olympic Games (2000 as Vice Captain and 2004 as Captain), winning a gold medal in Sydney 2000 and had the honour of leading her country at Athens in 2004. Representing Queensland and Australia in water polo, Naomi was named in the top ten athletes of the decade for the Queensland Academy of Sport, is a QSport Hall of Fame Member and a member of the Water Polo Australia Hall of Fame.

2019 Visiting Scholar Seminar Series - The Debatability of Racism: Postracialism, digital media and public culture

Dr Gavan Titley, Maynooth University, Ireland will present his new book Racism and Media and talk on what he terms the debatability of racism. The talk suggests that this debatability, this incessant, recursive attention as to what counts as racism and who gets to define it, has political consequences for practices of antiracism - practices that want to name racism publicly, the better to mobilize to confront it.

Hackathon is 30 hours of creativity and collaboration where you can design and create your very own app.

During the Hackathon, students work in teams to build an app that would greatly improve student life. It takes all skills to develop an app: project management to guide the team, graphic design for the User Interface, comms, marketing, advertising or PR to present and persuade the judges, and of course, coding and app development skills too.
