Overview: The intention of this PD will be to provide practical advice on how the new State Schools Indigenous Education Strategy can be implemented in schools.

The presentation will begin with Dave Hartley introducing the strategy and what it means for students, teachers and leaders. After this, members of the State Schools Indigenous Education Team will present professional development focusing on:
- Embedding a traditional language
- Uncovering and identifying your hidden Indigenous EALD students
- Embedding perspectives through the Cross Curriculum Priorities - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures
- Strengthening school and community relationships through engagement and co-design
- The new QCE - what does it mean for your school and students?

About the Presenter: Dave Hartley is a descendent of the Barunggam people - the Traditional Owners of the Chinchilla region in Queensland's Darling Downs. As a father of two beautiful, strong girls and husband to Helen - a Deputy Principal on the Gold Coast, Dave is a passionate advocate for State Education.

Dave commenced his career as a primary school teacher and cut his leadership teeth in two amazing Logan schools - Waterford West and Woodridge North State Schools and later became Principal of Bellevue Park State School in South East Region.

Dave sees his role as Assistant Director-General State Schools Indigenous Education as a privileged one. Dave is firm in the belief that whatever comes out of his branch on level 22, Mary Street Brisbane must speak to school principals and teachers, and must ultimately shift the historical learning paradigm for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in Queensland.

Dave has two dogs, a groodle named Frankie and a spoodle named Luna. He does not like being called David.
