This foundation level training is delivered entirely online via Learning@Griffith and will equip you with practical knowledge and skills to engage with and apply Human Research ethics guiding principles in conducting quality research. By the end of this training program (which will be conducted over a two week period) you will be more confident in applying guiding ethical principles and navigating the application processes at Griffith University. Completion of the course also enables you to receive a certificate of completion (which may be used for evidence of training completion for graduate study or other ethical review body purposes, or to add to your resume). This training is delivered using a flipped classroom model, which involves:

Step 1: Complete Anytime Before a Scheduled Workshop

Once you register for a workshop, you will be enrolled in the Human Research Ethics Foundations organinisation via Learning@Griffith and will be provided with further instructions. You will be expected to independently engaging with and complete an interactive online Articulate course that will provide you with the necessary knowledge to complete Step 2: Collaborative Workshop.

Please also complete the online test prior to the workshop.

Step 2: Attend a Scheduled Online Workshop

Attend a facilitator led online collaborative workshop to apply skills learned in the online course. In the workshop you will work in both the main group and within small teams to create Participant Information and Consent material for common quantitative and qualitative data collection methods, be provided with a live demonstration on how to access and apply for ethical approval in RIMS, and gain hints and tips for progressing your ethics application quickly. The workshop will be hosted via the Learning@Griffith organisation using Collaborate.

Step 3: Complete and Submit Your Ethics Application (optional)

Confidently develop and submit an ethics application for your own research project in RIMS for ethical review.
