Geographical Information Systems (GIS): An Introduction
Geographical Information Systems (GIS): An Introduction

Principal speaker

Dr Heather Shearer

This workshop will introduce Geographic Information Systems (GIS), specifically the software ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro).

It will provide an overview of the software, how to use the basic features such as adding and symbolising data, and how to create a simple map. The session will also introduce spatial data, where to acquire spatial data and how to evaluate it and we will do some basic spatial analysis.

This is an introductory session and attendees do not need any prior GIS experience, although a basic knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Excel would be useful. Links to access the software will be provided upon registration.

This workshop is split over two sessions, attendance to both sessions is required.
