Principal speaker

Dr Britt Winnen

This session is an interactive Q&A session for researchers who would like to learn more about the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) Program (CRCs and CRC-Projects).

The CRC Program is an excellent way to share knowledge, and build strong links with the broader community. These links boost our research capabilities and help us build and share our innovations. The Program funds research challenges between end-users (such as civil society or industry) and researchers. It aims to provide medium to long term industry-led collaborations with matched funding to solve industry problems and improve the competitiveness, productivity and sustainability of Australian industries.

The Program is outcome focused and offers support to industry, research and the community through two elements:

1. CRCs, which are large-scale, long-term, flagship industry-research centres, up to 10 years.

2. CRC-Projects support short-term industry-led collaborations to develop important new technologies, products and services. Maximum funding available $3m, up to 3 years.

The Research Development (RD) Team at Griffith coordinates participation in CRCs and CRC-Ps. In the last CRC round for example, Griffith participated in 5 bids, and in the last two rounds 6 CRC-Projects each. For the first time in over a decade, for this year's CRC Round 22, Griffith is the leading two CRC bids, and is a core partner in two other bids. Therefore, we are seeing an increased interest in these schemes at Griffith and aim to encourage more researchers to take advantage of this funding. The session is aimed at researchers who would like to participate in a CRC and/or apply for a CRC-Project or those who are interested in learning more about the program.

We will provide a short overview highlighting key objectives of both schemes, focussing on CRC-Projects, discuss the difference to ARC schemes, followed by a Q&A session.
