Source Materials brings together the work of six artists whose materiality and forms reflect philosophical attentiveness to conceptions of time and transcultural practice.
Working from distinct cultural and political contexts, multi-disciplinary artists Ómra Caoimhe, Nicole Foreshew, ektor garcia, D Harding, Bronwyn Katz and Shireen Taweel draw from post-minimalist studio training and conceptual art theory augmented by knowledges and skills considered artisanal and traditional. These artists weave together multilingual registers and dynamic community identities where ancestral inheritances are inherent in their political contexts.
Source Materials explores knowledge systems that offer challenges to art histories that emphasise progressions rather than continuums of
culture.
