As a First Australian researcher, Leda's work in Mackay is based on an Indigenist paradigm research model that features an Indigenous Critical Reference Group overseeing the research undertaken. This Indigenist paradigm is an example of a cultural alliance with a First Australian community and the research participants in Leda's work. Leda's experience suggests a more effective and meaningful approach to research with First Australian communities.
Leda will present important factors underlying the Indigenist paradigm that features in her work with Mackay's First Australian community in preventing First Australian deaths by suicide.
