In partnership with the University of Maryland's administrative training program, Borderless Research Administration Knowledge Exchange (BRAKE), Griffith University's Office of Research is pleased to announce that it will host two 2-hour interactive webinars to help us build our expertise in applying for grants from the United States' National Institutes of Health (NIH).

These workshops are designed to provide an overview of the NIH's application and award processes, for researchers and administrative staff alike. No prior experience with NIH or US funding agencies is required, but intermediate grant/proposal development experience is recommended.

It is highly recommended that you attend both workshops to get the most benefit. Part 1 will introduce you to key NIH terminology that will make Part 2 that much more understandable!

Part 1 - Foreign Applications to NIH Workshop Overview | Thursday 24 February 2022

Part 2 - NIH Application Tips and NIH Reporter | Thursday 3 March 2022 : 9:00am-11:00am (Brisbane time)

This two hour webinar includes:

NIH Proposal Application Tips (worthwhile for administrative staff but very geared towards researchers) - 45 minutes

Focusing on the proposal writing process: what does NIH want for each section, tips of planning the application, and submission requirements. Participants will learn about the different parts of the proposal and what the reviewers are looking for in each section.

Getting to know the Competition: Using NIH Reporter as a tool - 60 minutes

Focusing on NIH Reporter, which is more than just a database of NIH funded research. It is a treasure trove of information for administrators and researchers alike. During the workshop, we will show participants how to use NIH Reporter as tool to find POs, study sections, who applied to what FOA, and comparative costs. You will be able to go back to your desk (or open your laptop) and use this tool immediately.

Please note these sessions are online only and will not be recorded.
