This presentation is aimed at HDR students, Early Career Researchers, and researchers who would like to learn more about the animal ethics and animal care at Griffith University.
The first half of the session will cover the basic principles of animal ethics and the Australian code for the care and use of animals for scientific purposes (the Code) and will provide practical advice on how to write a successful animal ethics application.
The second half the session will cover animal care, principles of rodent anaesthesia, aseptic surgical techniques, and competency requirements for procedures. We will also provide advice on how to develop and use monitoring checklist to assess the health and welfare of research animals.
The session will run for approximately two hours.
