Associate Professor Sama Low-Choy
This session builds on the previous four sessions on how to pull together the inputs for meta-analysis (MA), and gets to the heart of the matter: How do we use these inputs in the statistical analysis? We talk through a one-way model commonly used for MA, and consider both the fixed effects and random effects versions. For MA, we show how the interpretation and use of these models is slightly different than when used to analyse experimental data. We illustrate how to produce visualisations, and note statistical implications of choices made when gathering inputs.
Level. Suitable for any level. It may be helpful to know about basic statistical inference, e.g. t-tests, ANOVA and/or linear models such as regression. This workshop introduces the notion of random effects also known as mixed effects or hierarchical regression.
For full workshop description view the Meta-Analysis Book of Abstracts.pdf.
This session is for current Griffith University staff and students only.
