Night Vision is a solo exhibition by recent Queensland College of Art and Design graduate Pat Rollston. Flora and Fauna have been on this earth for millennia, Charles Darwin's theory of evolution can thoroughly explain this course of history. Traditionally, evolution has been seen as physical change so the individual is better adapted to it's environment thus making survivability easier. Humans haven't physically changed psychically by much over the many millennia, where other species have. However, where we have evolved is in the field of intelligence.
Normally, when a species evolves it undergoes a multitude of changes and adaptations, over time certain changes are either bred in or out and humans haven't been void of this. Such examples of these include conditions falling under the neurodivergent label, Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia and many more, all of which were given so the medical/scientific world could understand them further and treat them so that these conditions didn't harbour as many negative side effects as when left untreated. Whilst these institutions have done well by mitigating the negative side effects of these conditions there is one area that has gone well over their heads. Can these conditions (in a Darwinian approach) aid the individual/species to better their environment? The medical/scientific world would like to think not, however, others through their efforts have proven it to be true.
