Associate Professor Luke Houghton
Qualitative research helps us make sense of complex human experiences, but for many early career researchers, it can feel slippery, subjective, or just plain mysterious. This workshop demystifies the foundations of qualitative research, from its philosophical roots to its practical application.
Designed for researchers new to qualitative research or looking to build confidence, we'll explore key approaches like interviews, focus groups, and thematic analysis, while also tackling how to ensure rigour without relying on numbers. Together, we'll work through real-world examples, practice coding data, and reflect on how our identities shape our research.
Whether you're planning your first study or want to better understand qualitative papers in your field, this session offers the tools, language, and mindset to get you started.
This session is for current Griffith University staff and students only.
