These resources are for supervisors and academics preparing for collegial conversations about learning and teaching.
Griffith is committed to being innovative and transformational in our learning and teaching practices. We recognise that the development and recognition of individual staff members’ learning and teaching capabilities can support innovation and transformation.
Supervisors and academics can use the Griffith Learning and Teaching Capabilities Framework and the Learning and Teaching Capabilities Reflection Tool to discuss and plan an individual’s learning and teaching practice enhancement, career development and associated professional learning. This type of collegial conversation has been embedded in the Academic Staff Career Development (ASCD) process, where an individual engages in a cycle of professional learning, with the support of their academic supervisor. That learning cycle includes conversations about planning, practice, observation (evidence gathering) and reflection (analysis).
The Learning and Teaching Capabilities Reflection Tool introduces a shared language to enable role clarification to occur between supervisor and the individual, as they discuss shared expectations of the capabilities needed to reach the goals over the coming 12 months and into the future. Questions to guide ASCD conversations can be used as a prompt to facilitate these conversations.
