The acclaimed musicians will give a new twist to some of their 70s hits when they perform with a 30-piece orchestra — made up of Griffith University Queensland Conservatorium musicians — in a reinvention of the songs that took their music around the world.
The orchestral arrangements will give a fresh sound to their hits including Gingerman, Don’t You Know Its Magic, A Little Ray of Sunshine, Sweet Sweet Love, Wings of an Eagle, and The Real Thing.
The concerts are part of the Queensland Conservatorium’s year-long 50th anniversary celebrations.
The project has been a number of years in the planning, stemming from early 2005 when Russell Morris worked with Queensland Conservatorium students.
Morris convinced his old friend Brian Cadd to take part in the venture.
“Our aim was to try something new and to reinvent our music into something that audiences will enjoy with new sounds in the superb acoustics of the Conservatorium’s Theatre,” Morris said.
