Accounting research at Griffith University has been ranked internationally as seventh in Australia and in the top 100 around the world.
The ranking, published in the latest edition of Accounting and Finance, was based on the top 24 accounting journals internationally and ranked Griffith 72 out of more than 1000 institutions worldwide.
Griffith Head of Accounting, Finance and Economics (AF&E) Professor Chew Ng said the ranking was a fantastic achievement for the department and the Griffith Business School (GBS).
“The ranking places Griffith ahead of two G8 universities, which is a fantastic result, and reflects the quality of work AF&E staff produce. The staff really deserve to be commended,” Professor Ng.
The ranking was based on research performance from 1991 — 2005.
The study also looked at institutional improvement in the second half of the period and Griffith was rated as one of the top ten upward movers in the world.
“The standard of research at Griffith University is continuing to rise and the ranking reflects this,” Professor Ng said.
“The ranking is in line with the GBS strategic plan to maintain a strong position in the top ten business schools in Australia, and the university’s strategy to move into the top 200 internationally.”
