Griffith University congratulates alumnus Andrew Fraser on his appointment as Queensland Treasurer.
Griffith Vice Chancellor Professor Ian O’Connor said he would like to congratulate Mr Fraser on behalf of the university community.
“Mr Fraser has achieved outstanding success,” Professor O’Connor said.
“He excelled as a student, completing a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce with first class honours and was winner of the University Medal.
“Now Mr Fraser is taking on one of the most important roles in the Queensland government, and what’s more is he is the second youngest person to do so.”
Mr Fraser was one of the youngest members of parliament when he was elected as the State Member for Mount Coot-tha in 2004 and was re-elected in 2006.
Two years after entering parliament he became the youngest cabinet minister in almost a century and took on the local government portfolio.
“It is always satisfying to see a Griffith alumnus achieve great things and it gives me great pleasure to watch as Mr Fraser continues to succeed and strives to make a positive impact,” Professor O’Connor said.
“I would also like to wish Mr Fraser a happy 31st birthday for Saturday.”
