Social change goes under the marketing spotlight

Social change, social entrepreneurship and sustainability are the focus of an international conference taking place at Griffith’s South Bank campus today and tomorrow.

The 2007 International Nonprofit and Social Marketing Conference (INSM) has attracted a diverse range of people from government and community-based sectors, marketers, academics and students.

A range of topics will be covered which address emerging issues in nonprofit and social marketing.

These include behaviour change campaigns, responsible marketing, corporate social responsibility, food advertising and self-regulation and multidimensional relationships and cultural implications to name a few.

Co-Conference Convenor and Organiser and Associate Professor of Marketing Gillian Sullivan-Mort said INSM would provide people working in the field with new strategies to approach the way they operate.

“Social organisations play an important role in addressing needs in society. The INSM provides a platform for people working in nonprofit and social organisations to learn and network with others,” Associate Professor Mort said.

Dr Margee Hume from the Department of Marketing is the other Conference Co-Convenor and Organiser.
