Photographic work on show at Café Arts

Griffith University arts students will unveil their new public art banner for 2008 at the Gold Coast Arts Centre Café on Wednesday, October 31.

The banner features eight large-scale photographic works chosen from more than 80 entries from Griffith students. Winners of the 2007 series are Cecilie Mevatne, Helen Alwan, Jackie Jemison and Tessa Coles.

The banner will be displayed for 12 months above Café Arts at the Gold Coast Art Centre.

Griffith University School of Arts lecturer Dr Sally Breen said the project aimed to promote emerging artists studying at the Gold Coast campus.

“It allows students an unprecedented level of exposure to the arts community traffic fostered by Café Arts and the Gold Coast Art Centre,” Dr Breen said.

“Having such high quality work displayed at the Arts Centre will help in promoting the students towards viable and sustainable careers in the arts.”
