New MBA graduate taking on the world

While that may seem remarkable enough, the job offer came from a fellow MBA student, just moments after they had given a joint class presentation.

MBA graduate, Peter Geale, was offered a global marketing position with an award winning IT company, even before he had graduated.

While that may seem remarkable enough, the job offer came from a fellow MBA student, just moments after they had given a joint class presentation.

Peter (pictured) and the General Manager of Netbox Blue, Ross Hanson, had been long-time friends when they caught up for lunch about three years ago.

Peter mentioned that he was doing an MBA at Griffith and convinced Ross he should also enrol.

After Peter recruited Ross to the Griffith MBA program, Ross later returned the favour by recruiting Peter to an executive position in Netbox Blue, a leading provider of innovative internet compliance, management and security solutions.

During Peter’s last MBA subject, he worked with Ross on a joint business analysis project in which they decided to profile Netbox Blue. That collaboration led to far more than just a successful academic result.

“The day we did the presentation to the class, Ross offered me a job as Netbox Blue’s Global Marketing Manager,” Peter Geale said.

“It would be fair to say that as a direct result of the MBA, I was offered the role, and I accepted it,” he said.

According to his new boss, Peter will be leading Netbox Blue through a period of expansion in both domestic and international markets.

“It is fantastic to have Peter joining the management team of Netbox Blue,” Ross Hanson said.

“Peter will head the company’s marketing department, building and strengthening Netbox Blue’s brand in the global IT security and social media management arena,” he said.

Peter will be in good company in his new job because, extraordinarily, eight staff members out of the company’s team of 27 are Griffith graduates, and several hold Masters Degrees.

Peter is delighted with the career opportunity which resulted from his decision to study an MBA, and he says he would recommend the Griffith course to anyone; not just his mates.

“I really enjoyed the MBA program, particularly the variety of subjects on offer and the quality of the teaching,” Peter said.

“The broad timetabling was important to me as well, and I was able to complete several subject over the summer,” he said.

“The friendships and business contacts I have made are amazing.”
