Top global strategist for Brisbane master class

The return of leading executive educator Dr Peter Wilton to Brisbane next month confirms the Griffith Business School’s ongoing collaboration with one of the world’s top universities.

Dr Peter Wilton is the top strategist at UC Berkeley’s Centre for Executive Education in the US, where he teaches strategy to some of USA’s brightest in the UC Berkeley MBA classes and in his consultancy work to leading world companies.

UC Berkeley was placed fourth in the annual global university rankings, released last week by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Peter Wilton will be at South Bank on September 13/14 to run a two-day workshop on Advanced Strategic Planning at the Asia Pacific Management Centre, the Griffith Business School’s newest academic centre.

Dr Wilton’s customer-centric emphasis brings a fresh approach to strategic planning, Pro Vice Chancellor, Griffith Business School, Professor Michael Powell (pictured right), said.

“This is a really important initiative which presents business managers in southeast Queensland with an unrivalled opportunity to learn new business models and strategies,” he said.

“Advanced tools and techniques for designing and implementing organisational strategies that deliver growth, profit, and leadership reputation will be presented and explored through the workshop.

“Dr Wilton will also outline the causes of poor strategy implementation and discuss how to close the strategy-to-performance gap.”

A customer loyalty workshop run by Peter Wilton through the APMC earlier this year was rated as very successful by industry attendees.

The latest workshop will again be run in association with the Australian Institute of Management (QLD and NT). AIM is a key partner in Griffith Business School’s new executive education arm.

Dr Peter Wilton is a global consultant to companies including Apple, British Airways and Coca Cola, and was named one of the USA’s leading business educators by USA Business Week.

“It is a unique opportunity for companies to learn from a top global strategist from one of the world’s great universities,” Professor Powell said.

Dr Wilton was born in Adelaide and lived for two years in Brisbane.
