With a TAFE diploma already under her belt, moving on to university for mum of five Tania Rahui, felt like a natural progression.
“My kids are now aged between 14 and 24”, says Tania.
“We meet regularly as a family and do things together. It’s hard work, studying and raising a family but we make it work.”
“I make it a priority to balance university and family life.” She said.
Tania chose to study at the Logan campus, not only because of its closeness to her home, but because of the feeling of the campus itself and the fast-track degree programs.
“Logan is a smaller campus with smaller lectures and tutes, so you have more one-on-one time with your teachers, and the people are friendly!” says Tania.
“The trimester program assists you to reach your goals sooner and helps you keep your work, study and life in balance.”
Tania, who also has previous experience in administration and accounts, will graduate from Griffith University’s Logan campus next year with a Bachelor of Commerce and a double major in accounting and financial planning.
The Bachelor of Commerce operates on a fast-tracked, three-semester per year (trimester) basis at the Logan campus, as opposed to the regular two semesters per year of most degree programs.
The fast-track option suits many mature-age students as it and can be completed in just two years (full-time) or four years (part-time).
Griffith’s Logan campus will open its doors to the local community for the Logan Information Evening on Wednesday 21 August, as an opportunity for prospective students and their families to speak directly about the degree programs, resources and expertise that this community focused campus has on offer.
