Alumni Brett Dean and Danielle Bentley have received awards in this year’s 2013 APRA ART Music Awards.
Brett Dean was recognised for his composition Fire Music which was premiered by the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and conducted by himself. He received the Work of the Year: Orchestral. Fire Music was inspired by the devastating Black Saturday Fires in 2009.
Danielle Bentley was recognised for her dedication and commitment to Australian art music and chamber music. She received the Award of Excellence by an Individual for her work commissioning and championing Australian music and musicians across many genres through the Collusion Ensemble, and the Restrung and Crossbow Festivals.
