The quality of teaching at Griffith Health has again been highlighted with Dr Benjamin Weeks winning The Vice Chancellor’s Griffith University Teacher of the Year for 2013.
Dr Weeks, a lecturer in physiotherapy based at Griffith’s Gold Coast campus has consistently scored in the highest benchmark rank in student evaluations because of his innovative and engaging teaching activities.

Previously he had won many commendations and two Group Learning and Teaching Citations in the last two years.
“I’m humbled to receive the VC’s award, because I know we have many great teachers here at Griffith,” said Dr Weeks.
“It’s good to be part of a university that invests so much in learning and teaching and goes to great lengths to support its teachers.”
Dr Weeks’ reputation as a leader in physiotherapy education, locally and internationally has led to Learning and Teaching collaborations with other Schools and international Universities.
Dr Weeks’ leadership within the School of Rehabilitation Sciences has led to the development of several of the School’s successful Learning and Teaching initiatives.
CLinks
This includes the development of ‘Clinical Links’ or ‘CLinks’, an innovative approach to teaching clinical and professional skills using video vignettes of actual physiotherapy consultations is enhancing the development of physiotherapy students.
“Engaging and motivating students to learn is our biggest challenge. I think innovative approaches to teaching are needed to meet this challenge and provide the best student experiences”
“The Graduate Certificate in Higher Education was really what helped me understand the depth of what’s possible in learning and teaching and really helped me identify where improvements could be made.”
Dr Weeks has also been invited to peer-review as an expert as part of the PRO Teaching Project.
