Bangladesh visit spotlight on Climate Change and Health

CEPH’s Deputy Director and Bangladesh Program Leader,Dr Shannon Rutherford, and Bangladesh Program Coordinator Dr Zahir Mohammed Islamvisited Dhaka,Bangladeshin late October to work with WHO Bangladesh on a number of climate change and health projects.

While in Dhaka, CEPH staff also had meetings with senior staff of the Climate Change Trust, Environment Department and UNICEF to discuss climate change issues. They also met with staff from ICDDR,B’s Training and Development unit to discuss ongoing training and capacity building activities and staff of BRAC, the world’s largest NGO, to discuss potential collaboration in public health training and capacity building.

CEPH staff were happy to meet CEPH alumni and new students commencing in 2014 at a specially organised event attended by 14 past students and staff represented Griffith University at a meeting with IDB, an Australian University agent, to promote Griffith University and Brisbane as a study destination and better understand current needs and interests of potential Bangladesh students.
