Within a year of starting their marketing and corporate consultancy business, success was upon a Griffith graduate sister act.

Dani-elle Davidson and Paula Grant are directors and co-owners of XiXi Lu, which specialises in premium marketing strategies and operational support. Dani-elle is a Bachelor of Laws (Hons)/ Bachelor of International Business and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and Paula has a degree in Arts and Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing.

In 2013, Dani-elle won the prestigious Australian Anthill Magazine’s ’30 Under 30′ competition, an award which recognises the nation’s top 30 entrepreneurs under the age of 30 for their outstanding entrepreneurial endeavors.

Recently, Dani-elle was also named as a finalist in the ‘Young Small Business Champion Entrepreneur’ category of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards. XiXi Lu was named as one of the ‘Top 100 Coolest Companies’ in Australia in 2013 (Australian Anthill Magazine) and as a finalist in the 2014 Australian Small Business Champion Awards. XiXi Lu is a strong supporter of the Griffith Business School Internship Program taking numerous interns across the semesters and providing them with opportunities to hone their skills in the areas of human resources, marketing, public relations and international business.

“We were both so fortunate to undertake Work Integrated Learning Programs, for example the Innocence Project, whilst studying at Griffith,” Paula explains.

“We were able to grow and develop considerably as a result. Not only does the Internship Program enable students to apply their education and skills to real world examples, but it also allows students to work as part of a team and mentally prepare for post University employment.”

Having enjoyed the growing success of XiXi Lu and the opportunity to mentor young talent, as proud Gen Y entrepreneurs Paula and Dani-elle were even more committed to establishing a platform to educate, motivate, network and reward aspiring millennials.

Accordingly, in July 2014 Paula and Dani-elle launched the inaugural ‘Marketing to Millennials Excellence Award’, which offers secondary and tertiary students (and recent school leavers) across Australia the opportunity to win a trip to Singapore to meet with top business leaders and investors and get insider access to one of the world’s leading financial gateways.

Applicants will be required to submit a ‘mind-blowing’ marketing strategy or business development plan for one of Australia’s fastest growing Start Ups and the prize will be awarded to the individual (or group of individuals) who demonstrates extraordinary levels of innovation, business development skills and creative flair.
