Planning for a career in planning?

If a career in planning is your goal, then come down to the Planning Profession Expo at Griffith’s Nathan campus tomorrow (Friday 29 August).

Organised by Griffith University’s Planning discipline in association with the Planning Environment Griffith Student Group (PEGS), the free inaugural event — which will be repeated at the university’s Gold Coast campus on Friday 5 September – will be showcasing the range of opportunities available to planning students in their future careers.

“We are very excited for this new event, which is sponsored by Brisbane City Council and the City of Gold Coast, to reaffirm the full scope of opportunities available to planners in the type of projects they may work on, the type of professions they may work with and the variety of ‘positions’ they may be suited to,” says Professor Darryl Low Choy, discipline head, Urban and Environmental Planning.

“At Griffith, within the discipline of planning, we pride ourselves on offering university programs which are accredited by the Planning Institute of Australia. That means that students are ready to begin work following successful graduation of our degrees.

“We are also proud to offer programs which are structured around ‘real world’ challenges which can connect students to the real world of planning.”

The two Planning Profession Expos will feature a number of key speakers from each sector of the profession, which will conclude with a session by Griffith’s Planning alumni.

“All the planning organisations that we work with in offering programs at Griffith, will be on hand at the Expo to speak and network with people in attendance,” said Professor Low Choy.
