Griffith University has again improved its international standing, according to the QS World University Rankingsfor 2014-15.

One of the leading international authorities on university rankings has Griffith at 324, up 17 places from last year and placing it firmly in the top four per cent of the world’s 10,000 universities.

Griffith has improved across several areas, most notably in Life Sciences and Medicine, which jumped almost 100 places to be ranked at 263rd globally.

In Social Sciences and Management, Griffith is rated in the top 150 in the world, coming in at 143, and in Arts and Humanities Griffith has risen 17 places to be ranked at 212.

Griffith’s research classification was upgraded from High to Very High while the discipline of Engineering and Technology is ranked in the world’s top 400 for the first time, at 396.

Vice Chancellor and President Professor Ian O’Connor says the rankings reflect Griffith’s ongoing commitment to providing world-class teaching and research in world-leading facilities.

“The QS World University Rankings come at a time of tremendous growth for Griffith University,” says Professor O’Connor.

“With examples such as the Sir Samuel Griffith Centre, the Griffith Health Centre and the Griffith Business School building, it is exciting to know that our academics and students have access to facilities that are state-of-the-art and second to none in the world.

“However, the mark of any university is in its teaching and learning and these results are pleasing confirmation of Griffith’s increasing stature and reputation in the world.”

Earlier this year, the QS World University Rankings by Subject ranked Griffith University among the top 200 universities worldwide in nine key subject areas, namely Law and Legal Studies; Politics and International Studies; Education and Training; Environmental Studies; Sociology; Psychology; Earth and Marine Sciences; Civil and Structural Engineering; Computer Science and IT.

Of these, Law and Legal Studies, Politics and International Studies and Education and Training were ranked in the world’s top 100.

Griffith was also included in the top 50 universities in the world under 50 years old.
