Brisbane’s top emerging musicians are taking over Brisbane this weekend.
Griffith University’s Queensland Conservatorium Popular Music students will perform throughout the Queen Street Mall as part of The City Sounds from Friday 3 October to Sunday 5 October.
In a huge line-up, the free performances showcase the talents of independent emerging artists from the Conservatorium.
Head of Popular Music, Dr Donna Weston said The City Sounds was part of the shift in focus to live performance for students.
“With changes in technology, and the rise of digitally available music, the industry has undergone significant change, with a shift from music sales as the major revenue to live performance,” Dr Weston said.
“In the Bachelor of Popular Music, the Conservatorium has kept up with these changes with the Seed album as well as a series of events at QPAC, Brisbane Festival and now The City Sounds,” she said.
