Creative writing lecturer Dr Sally Breen has been shortlisted in the Courier Mail’s People Choice Awards for Book of the Year for her novel Atomic City.
Her first novel The Casuals was a memoir about growing up in Brisbane. Atomic City has been described as an “electrifying neo-noir tale of identity theft and subterfuge.”
‘It’s an honour to be selected for nomination for People’s Choice Awards for Book of the Year,” Sally said.
“With a competition like this, the temptation is there to turn into something a bit like Reese Witherspoon in the film Election – you want to win! Of course you do, but I just hope people enjoy the book and I appreciate their support.’
