Centre for Environment and Population Health (CEPH) links with Muslim University of Indonesia

On 30 October 2014, Professor Sarah Todd, Pro Vice Chancellor (International) welcomed Professor Dr Masrurah Mokhtar MA, Rector of Muslim University of Indonesia (UMI) to the Nathan campus to sign an MoU between Griffith University and UMI to facilitate collaborations with the Centre for Environment and Population Health (CEPH) and the Faculty of Public Health at UMI.

Professor Mokhtar noted that strengthening international partnerships with foreign universities such as Griffith University is a step that UMI is taking to be a world class University.

The cooperation will focus on research, mutual assistance in the preparation of seminars, conference and workshops; exchange of publication materials; and a variety of capacity building programs that include: professional short courses and jointly delivered Master, PhD programs, and post-doctoral fellowship programs.

Professor Mokhtar was accompanied by Dr Iskandar BP, Vice Rector UMI, Professor Dr Syarifuddin Waji, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Dr Sudirman SE, Dean, Faculty of Public Health, Mr Rahmat Koesman, SKM, Dean of Pharmacy Faculty, Mr Zakir Sabara ST, Dean, Faculty of Industrial Engineering, and Mr Hasbi Ali, SH, MH Head of Quality Assurance Unit.

UMI was established in 1954 and is the oldest university in the Eastern Indonesia. It is one of the biggest and most popular private universities and has three campuses all of which are located in Makassar and South Sulawesi Province.
