Nominations open for business alumnus awards

Previous winners include current Managing Director of Tourism Australia, John O’Sullivan and the founder of Di Bella Coffee, Phillip Di Bella. Now it’s time for potential recipients of the 2015 Griffith Business School Outstanding Alumnus Awards to be placed under the spotlight.

Nominations for the Outstanding Alumnus Awards open today (Tuesday), and winners will be celebrated at the annual gala dinner – 2015 marks the 10th anniversary ofthis cornerstone event.

The Outstanding Alumnus of the Year and Young Outstanding Alumnus of the Year willbe announced at a gala awards ceremony at the end of October.

Pro Vice Chancellor (Business)Professor Michael Powellsaid the Outstanding Alumnus and Young Alumnus of the Year awards provided an opportunity to not only honour this year’s recipients but also to celebrate more broadly the remarkable achievements of Griffith Business School graduates.

“These annual awards are a celebration of the diverse achievements of our alumni in their professional lives, as well as the significant contribution they make to the community both here in Australia and abroad,” Professor Powell said.

High calibre

The calibre of previous winners reflects this sentiment. Among the other graduates whose achievements have been acknowledged during the years are David Morgan, CEO of City Venue Managemen; Karl Morris, Executive Chairman, Ord Minnett; Sarah Bairstow, Marketing Manager, Santos Limited; and Bree Kloda, Marketing Manager, Gold Coast Airport.

The 2015 Awards will be announced at the Griffith Business SchoolAlumniGala Dinner and Awards Night on 30 October, at the Ballroom Le Grand,Sofitel Brisbane Central.

Under 40 years old, with at least five years’ work experience, this personis already successful in their profession, and contributes to the community.

Outstanding Alumnus of the Year

This person is a credit to the alumni community, through their sustainedexceptional success in their chosen profession and their substantialcommunity contribution.
