Experts revisit the case for federal reform

Professor Anne Tiernan is among the speakers addressing the 2015 IPAA National Conference.

Griffith Business School will be strongly represented at this year’s national conference of the Institute of Public Administration Australia.

Professor Anne Tiernan, School of Government and International Relations, and Professor AJ Brown, Centre for Governance and Public Policy, are among the speakers at the two day event in Sydney (October 14-15).

The theme for the conference is Fed up Federation reform: impacts and opportunities and willprovide a forum for debate, discussion and promotion of the public sector.

AJB emailDay one will identify and address three ‘Big Issues’ around federal reform. The first session will ask ‘Why are we reforming Federation?’. The second session, involving Professor Brown (left), will consider what people want and what public servants really think. The third session will explore what it would take to achieve reform.

A number of round-table briefings will be run, focusing on issues like health, education, tax and housing. The latter topic will involve significant input from Professor Tiernan.

A number of skills sessions on digital government, big data, commissioning and market stewardship will also be run across the two days.
