Influential, innovative and the most successful coach in NRL history, Brisbane Broncos coach Wayne Bennett AM has used his knowledge and skills to inspire future students at Griffith University’s Logan Campus.

More than 250 people attended this week’s Logan Twilight Seminar, each eager to learn more about their study options at Griffith. Bennett challenged them to go further and achieve the goals they set in life.

“Have that dream, set that goal andthenlive it,” he said.”Don’t fear failure; fear not doing your best.”

In a stellar rugby league career, Wayne Bennett has coached the Brisbane Broncos, St George Illawarra, Newcastle Knights, Canberra Raiders, the Queensland State of Origin team and the Australian team.

After six premierships with the Broncos and one with St George, this year he returned to Brisbane and guided the team through to the 2015 NRL Grand Final.

In the end, the Broncos lost to the North Queensland Cowboys in a golden point thriller, but Bennett knows there is much that can be taken even from defeat: “It’s OK to be disappointed, but have no regret.”

Addressing the Twilight Seminar audience, Bennett said he had agreed to come to the Logan campus — for the second time this year — because he sees how Griffith is striving both to help prospective students see what’s possible and to support them as they transform their lives through education.

“Why waste time thinking about what you don’t have,” he said. “Think about what you do have and how you can make it better.”

“He is a truly inspirational person by reaching each goal he has set for himself,”Professor Chenoweth said.
