Ten Griffith students are among the top 100 most employable graduates in the country.
Leading student employment website, GradConnection, has revealed the 100 candidates in line for its 2015 Future Leaders Awards.
The Griffith students named in the Top 100 are:

- Carina Soleckhan, Bachelor of Environmental Design (Architecture)
- Elliot Jones, Bachelor of Engineering (Environmental) with Honours
- Emma Peterson, Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Business
- Julia Booth, Bachelor of Information Technology Advanced with Honours
- Kristin Gleeson, Bachelor of Science
- Liveti Liveti, Bachelor of Information/Bachelor of Multimedia
- Madelyn Green, Bachelor of Forensic Science and Criminology and Criminal Justice
- Joshua Holmes, Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Multimedia
“I saw it as a great opportunity to meet potential employers. That was one of the most important aspects of the competition for me,” said Madelyn Green, a student of forensic science and criminology and criminal justice.
“I’m hoping to make some useful connections when I go to Sydney for the awards event.”
Madelyn is set to graduate from Griffith next month and hopes to eventually work with the police service as a forensic scientist.
“Being seen as employable is very high on my list of priorities. It’s important that I get myself out there so that I can get to where I want to be. Making the top 100 most employable students is a great boost.”
Engineering student Elliot Jones (above) was keen to enter after learning about the potential rewards from students who had been involved previously, particularly in relation to the experience with GradConnections and exposure to industry representatives.
“Employability is definitely on my radar. It’s pretty much talked about almost every day,” he said.
He said being included in the Top 100 most employable students built on his selection as aNew Colombo Plan scholar in 2014.
Recruitment process
The Griffith students of IT/multimedia, science, health, exercise science, environmental engineering, architecture, criminology, psychology and business are now in with a chance of winning one of the five overall awards to be announced at a black tie event in Sydney next February.
The awards will be presented by GradConnection in association with Fusion Graduate Consultancy and the Australian Financial Review.
They cover five categories, i) Engineering and Science Award; ii) Business and Commerce Award; iii) Information Technology Award; iv) Accounting and Finance Award; v) Arts and Law Award.
All of the Griffith students nominated are Careers and Employment Service clients and six are members of the Griffith Honours College.
They were among thousands of entrants from Australian universities who were judged on their performance in a rigorous, simulated graduate recruitment process involving online applications, psychometric testing, video interviews and an assessment centre.
The process emulates the methods used by Australia’s top graduate and internship employers to find future talent for their workforce.
Leading employers
The annual competition aims to identify the most employable students in Australia, with the winners selected by a groupof major Australian companies.
Finding the most promising leadership talent emerging from Australia’s universities and introducing them to Australia’s leading employers is a key goal of the competition.
Finalists will complete a final assessment before the winning awards are presented to the students who have demonstrated they are the most capable graduate in their selected industry.
The winnerswill be recognised in theAustralian Financial ReviewonMonday, February 22.
The awards are sponsored by some of the country’s leading business names including Suncorp, KPMG, Westpac, Deloitte and Woolworths.
In 2014, Griffith Business School student Christina Ruiz was the overall winner of the Westpac Group Accounting and Finance Award.
