Griffith University will bring its own form of colour and energy to the Riverfire weekend, as the curtain comes down on the 2016 Brisbane Festival.
A series of digital installations will celebrate the senses during the weekend and after.
‘HeartBreath’ will light up the walls of the Art Gallery and Webb Centre at South Bank on Saturday night, while imagined sounds from the world beneath the Brisbane River will be accessible through a free river listening app.
For those who may miss out on Saturday night, ‘HeartBreath’ will also be displayed on the Webb Centre wall on Monday and Tuesday night.

The installations, which are hosted by Griffith University Red Zone, showcase the work and research of Andi Spark at Griffith Film School and Leah Barclay at Queensland Conservatorium.
“‘HeartBreath’ aims to capture that sense of heart-pumping blood surging through the veins,” Associate Professor Spark said.
“It’s all about the many aspects of bodily fluidity and breath, like tears welling and falling; a catch of breath and an outpouring of energy, or the steady intake of air creating calmness.”
Associate Professor Spark explained that the ‘HeartBreath’ project has been developed through an exploratory methodology focusing on aspects of embodied emotion.
Dr Leah Barclay, research fellow at the Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre, is the creator of the river listening experience.
By downloading an app called Recho, people can turn their phone into a sonic compass to guide them along the riverside.
“New sounds will be added and adapted throughout Riverfire meaning every person will have a different listening experience,” Dr Barclay said.
“People will be able to trigger geo-located soundscapes throughout South Bank.
“These sounds are layered with underwater recordings and creative responses to the Brisbane River that connect to the soundscapes of river systems around the world.”
This installation is part of an interdisciplinary project exploring the art and science of listening to rivers and the creative possibilities of aquatic bioacoustics.
