Griffith University has been placed among the world’s top 300 universities for a second consecutive year by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
The Rankings, released overnight in the UK (September 21), affirm Griffith’s place as one of the top 3 per cent of universities in the world, coming on the heels of a top 400 position this year in both the Academic Rankings of World Universities and the prestigious QS World University Rankings.
Earlier this week Griffith was ranked 34th in the Top 50 Universities Under 50. This ranking is for universities less than 50 years old.
“Our position in the Times Higher Education Rankings is a reflection of the continued excellent performance by Griffith’s academics and staff across multiple disciplines,” said Griffith University Vice Chancellor, Professor Ian O’Connor.
“It is especially pleasing that Griffith has secured a ranking under 300 for a second year in a row to be among the world’s leading research universities.”
Griffith University’s key strengths in the latest rankings have been achieved through a sustained focus on research, with a marked increase in citations over recent years.
Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research) Professor Ned Pankhurst said the University had developed a strong research culture over the last decade.
“This drives our commitment to higher learning and builds our capacity to attract some of the world’s leading researchers from a range of disciplines.”
