Research and teaching at Griffith Business School has been showcased on a global stage with the release of the annual 2017 QS World UniversityRankingsby Subject.
Griffith has been ranked number one in Australia and number nine in the world for Hospitality and Leisure Management in the latest edition of the prestigious ranking.
“This is an excellent reflection of the high standards we set at Griffith Business School and how we strive to meet these standards,” Head of the Department of Tourism, Sport and Hotel Management, Professor Graham Cuskelly, said.
“To feature in ninth position in such a highly-respected ranking is a noteworthy achievement, and a magnificent platform for our Department as we count down to the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
“A major event like next year’s Games will bring the hospitality and leisure management industry on the Gold Coast into sharp focus, and Griffith University is strongly positioned to inform discussions in this space while also capitalising on unique research opportunities.”
Overall, Griffith was ranked in the top 100 institutions worldwide in 11 subject areas. Three other subject areas – Nursing, Development Studies and Performing Arts — gained top 50 positions, making this Griffith’s best ever result in the seventh edition of the annual ranking system.
In addition, Griffith University is now equal ninth with one other university for top 100 subjects, and equal ninth for top 50 subjects, also with one other university.
QSevaluated more than 4400 universities worldwide andranked1117 institutions in compiling the 2017 rankings.
More than 127 million citation attributions were analysed and the provision of more than18,900 programs was verified.
