Registrations open for historic sustainability leadership program

Griffith University has announced the opening of registrations, along with the first cohort of prominent program faculty members for next year’s Executive Education in Sustainability Leadership Program (EESLP).

The EESLP is an internationally renowned sustainability program to be hosted by the Griffith University EcoCentre from the 6th to the 9th of March 2018, currently delivered through the T.H. Chan School of Public Health at Harvard University in Boston.

It’s a selective, small-class program that helps executives across all sectors to integrate sustainability leadership into their organisations.

Directorof Harvard University’s Executive Education for Sustainability Leadershipand Australian expatriate,Ms Leith Sharp (M.Ed), will return to Australia and collaborate with the EcoCentre and peak body Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability to deliver the four-day event in Brisbane, joined by a program faculty comprised of some of Australia’s leading sustainability leaders including:

Ms Kate Harris, CEO at Good Environmental Choice Australia and the Non-Executive Director of the Living Future Institute Australia and the Centre for Sustainability Leadership said it’s a momentous occasion for the program.

“It’s the first time this program has come from Harvard University to Australian shores, and opportunities to connect with people of this calibre simply don’t come along every day.” Ms Harris said.

Mr Jon Dee, co-founder of Planet Ark and DoSomething, and host of Sky News Business Channel’s Smart Money said the program is a beneficial and important event for sustainability leadership education.

“I’m delighted to be part of one of the world’s premiere programs for sustainability leadership. After building organisations like DoSomething and Planet Ark, and speaking to innovators from the world of business through Smart Money, I’m excited to share some key insights with fellow leaders and changemakers” Mr Dee said.

Griffith University’s Associate Professor Cheryl Desha, has been working hard to build capacity for whole system thinking, biomimicry and fostering urban nature for resilient and liveable cities.

“The networking opportunities for attending this program are going to be phenomenal. This program is renowned for having some of the biggest global names attending from academia, government and industry.”

Mr Chris Hill, Environmental Sustainability Project Manager at the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of Australia and Papua New Guinea is also be part of the Leadership program.

“When the world changes, we need to do the same. This program will give organisations the inspiration they need to instigate truly transformative change for the better.”
