Unitemps celebrates outstanding debut year

The first of its kind in Australia, university-operated recruitment agency Unitemps Griffithis celebrating a successful first year after its establishment in July 2016.

With branches on the Gold Coast and Nathan campuses, Unitemps Griffith has placed hundreds of students and graduates into a broad range of vacancies in local Southeast Queensland businesses as well as within Griffith University.

Vice Chancellor and President Professor Ian O’Connor stresses the university’s commitment to student outcomes and Unitemps Griffith is a further demonstration of this focus.

“Griffith University’s confidence in the quality of our students and graduates is demonstrated by the fact that within the university Unitemps has hired students for $681,000 of internal wages and over 20,000 hours of work in its first year which is an amazing feat,” Professor O’Connor said.

Deputy Director of Development and Alumni Ms Joanne Nyland said her experience with Unitemps Griffith has been very rewarding.

“I’ve had two Unitemps in the past… I think the most important thing is Unitemps has been able to identify the right people with the right skills to do the job that I needed doing.”

Unitemps Griffith handles all aspects of the recruitment process including sourcing, shortlisting, interviewing, referee checks and payrolling as required, saving employers valuable time.

“They sent me the right people in the first place. I think that’s the biggest thing for me is that it’s easy to find somebody that can do what I need them to do and it takes no time at all,” Ms Nyland said.

Ms Nyland found that the recruitment of Griffith University students has been invaluable as they already have an understanding of how the university works.

“When you bring someone in from outside of Griffith it takes a while for them to get up to speed. Somebody that gets Griffith is really useful.”

Students can be placed in short-term assignments, ongoing part-time work or full-time roles, with the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to a busy work environment.

Unitemps Griffith has placed students into a range of industries including marketing, information technology, finance and accounting, education, hospitality, tourism and more.
