A Griffith University architecture student’s design has been selected for a momument tohonour and recognise Indians who were sacrificed in wars.
The Australians of Indian Heritage War Memorial (AIHW) Committee selected Bianca Archer’s design among 11 entries from the Griffith School of Architecture.
The design features a large sphere that represents earth and the unification of humanity, with the weight of it reflecting a ‘heavy’ death toll.
The cracks on the surface represent the broken promise of Indian independence by the British and a damaged Indian culture. The missing piece of the sphere symbolises the omitted recognition of the Indian soldiers and the shell case of Indian trench art piercing trough the centre is all about reflection.
The momument was unveileved in November in theMemorial Garden of Sunnybank RSL Sub-branch.
“That was such a thrill. It made me even more certain that I am aligned with my true purpose and I’m on the right track,” she said.
