*Trigger Warning*

This event contains information about sexual assault and/or violence which may be triggering to survivors. Support is available on campus or through 1800RESPECT.

Despite evidence that restorative justice practices can provide
accountability for individuals who have engaged in acts of sexual victimization
and can promote healing for individuals who have experienced it, critics argue
that the field has no place for such practices. This seminar will examine how a
vicarious restorative justice framework has been utilized with individuals who
are currently in treatment after committing sexual offenses. The talk will
include Dr. Ackerman's firsthand account of participating in vicarious restorative
justice sessions as facilitator and survivor. She will discuss reflections of
her own experience, as well as those of other participants.
