Much has been written about the increasing presence of China in the Pacific islands region. However, the place of climate change in engagement between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Pacific island countries has been given very little attention to date.
"Climate conversations and disconnected discourses: An examination of how Chinese engagement on climate change aligns with Pacific priorities" is a conversation starter that goes some way to filling this gap.
This research comes at a timely juncture. Increased geostrategic focus on the Pacific islands region increasingly intersects with the growing urgency in addressing the impacts of climate change. And it is this that Pacific island countries have long identified as their first and foremost concern when it comes to security.
