Who should attend? - These workshops are designed to provide an overview of the NIH's application and award processes, for researchers and administrative staff alike. No prior experience with NIH or US funding agencies is required, but intermediate grant/proposal development experience is recommended.

Our Presenters encourage active participation, so please come with questions!

It is highly recommended that you attend both workshops to get the most benefit. Part 1 will introduce you to key NIH terminology that will make Part 2 that much more understandable!

Part 1 - Foreign Applications to NIH Workshop Overview Date: Thursday 16 February 2023 Time: 09:00 am - 11:00 am

This two hour webinar provides an overview of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as well as tips and advice for applying to the NIH as a foreign organization. Participants will learn about NIH's funding mechanisms, scientific review, submission requirements, and pre and post award issues.

Part 2 - NIH Application Tips and NIH Reporter Date: Thursday 16 March 2023 Time: 08:30 am - 10:30 am

This two hour webinar includes:

NIH Proposal Application Tips (worthwhile for administrative staff but very geared towards researchers) - 45 minutes

Focusing on the proposal writing process: what does NIH want for each section, tips of planning the application, and submission requirements. Participants will learn about the different parts of the proposal and what the reviewers are looking for in each section.

Getting to know the Competition: Using NIH Reporter as a tool - 60 minutes

Focusing on NIH Reporter, which is more than just a database of NIH funded research. It is a treasure trove of information for administrators and researchers alike. During the workshop, we will show participants how to use NIH Reporter as tool to find POs, study sections, who applied to what FOA, and comparative costs. You will be able to go back to your desk (or open your laptop) and use this tool immediately.
