Rights Based Research: Creating an Indigenous Research Consciousness
Rights Based Research: Creating an Indigenous Research Consciousness

Principal speaker

Professor Peter Anderson

Researchers who conduct research in previously colonized or imperialized nations must now recognize, as part of their professional practice, that Indigenous and other traditionally oriented Peoples have inalienable rights that were not extinguished by settler colonialism. In this seminar Professor Peter Anderson will explore how to develop empirical research that informs successful outcomes for Indigenous Peoples through the transformative power of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) where Indigenous Rights should be incorporated into such aspects as research methodology, ethics, methods of data collection, analysis, and dissemination.
