Dr Ausma Bernot
This series of mini-symposia aims to demystify research methods, for researchers thinking about adopting them for the first time. There is less focus on the technical wizardry under the hood, and more emphasis on how the method supported your research and things to watch out for.
This mini-symposium features talks on thematic analysis in mixed methods (MM) research projects. Thematic analysis in MM often involves conducting thematic analysis on interview or focus group data, with quantitative analysis applied to the survey data.
Sometimes, if a sizeable amount of data is collected from open-ended survey responses, thematic analysis may be considered along with other kinds of qualitative analysis.
The purpose of this symposium is to nurture a strong and collegial MM community, with the mixing of methods continuing to evolve in innovative ways.
Intended audience: Researchers of all levels who have attempted a quant analysis in conjunction with qual analysis. We welcome researchers willing to explore new methods, especially HDRs. We aim to provide a friendly and supportive environment.
