This exhibition of paper and fabric works explores historical imagery of women from around the world working in Magdalen Laundries. "Wayward' girls were sent to work in these laundries by their families or the courts, without pay and usually involuntarily.
Work of Reclamation was created for exhibition at Abbotsford Arts Precinct in Melbourne, where a Magdalen Laundry operated for almost a century. The works consider the way in which enduring myths developed around the girls and women in these institutions.
