Participants are introduced to common strategies to resolve issues specifically involved with academic publishing for Humanities and Social Science disciplines. The session is focussed on publishing as an ECR with elements applicable for the HDR cohorts. The session is based around the professional experiences of senior academics getting published and working through the various issues and roadblocks around academic publications.
Topics covered include:
- The publishing process - strategies, timelines and journal selection;
- Conflict issues in research - responsible conduct and authorship;
- Reworking materials for publication - embargos and copyright
- Editors' perspective - authors and peer review process;
- Publishing models - Open scholarship
- Copyright and other services at Griffith
On completion, participants should be able to identify and resolve advanced academic publishing issues. These involve authorship, selection of journals and relationships with editors. The session includes an introduction to understanding the process of peer review and an overview of newer publishing models including open scholarship and transformative agreements. Throughout the session we will be providing links and information on the resources available at Griffith to assist you with getting your research published.
*Please note, the materials covered in this session will be the same as previous versions of the workshop.
