Griffith University Art Museum Symposium Taring Padi x proppaNOW
Join us for an in-depth discussion with Indonesian collective Taring Padi, Queensland's renowned Aboriginal artist collective proppaNOW and significant international and national curators, writers, and artists. Interested artists, students, researchers, and academics are invited to attend and contribute to a dynamic dialogue on collective aesthetics, sovereignty, and interdisciplinarity.

About Taring Padi
Taring Padi are a leading Indonesian collective of artworkers with a mission to understand the cultural and social history of Indonesia through a contemporary lens. Based in Yogyakarta, they use art as a tool to explore issues of sovereignty to overcome environmental destruction, violence, food shortages and unemployment. Taring Padi's interdisciplinary practice spans art, music, and theatre and has seen them included in exhibitions internationally, including Tanah Merdeka at Framer Framed, in The Netherlands in 2023, and documenta fifteen in Germany in 2022.
About proppaNOW
proppaNOW is an arts collective for Indigenous Australian artists in Queensland. Aiming to counter cultural stereotypes and give a voice to urban artists, the collective has mounted several exhibitions around the country. The collective was founded by Richard Bell, Jennifer Herd and Vernon Ah Kee in 2003 and formalised in 2004.
